York College of Pennsylvania had a historical showing with four wins at the annual Festival of Media Arts sponsored by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA). The Festival, BEA’s international faculty and student digital media and broadcast competition, featured nearly 1,900 entries from over 300 schools. Award recipients will be recognized at BEA2024 in Las Vegas in April.

“This is a testament to the strength of the Mass Communication program,” said Jeffrey Schiffman, WVYC Radio Station Manager and Instructor in Audio & Radio Production at York College. “I believe that when the 2024 BEA School Rankings are announced, our programs will get a lift. I am very proud of all our winners.”

Best of Competition in the Adjunct Faculty and Staff Film and Video Competition went to Emily Rund, York College photographer/videographer who taught Video Production II during the Fall 2023 semester, and Intern Clara Hill, a 2023 Mass Communication graduate from New Oxford, Pa., for “York College School of Arts, Communications and Global Studies.”

Natalie Robinson, a 2023 Public Relations graduate from Blue Bell, Pa., earned an Award of Excellence in the Student Audio Competition’s Education Program Category for “Job Market.”

Chase Hellwig, junior Mass Communication major from Pylesville, Md., placed third in the PSA, Promo, or Commercial Category with “College Radio Day ’23 Promo.”

Marcos Repolle, junior Mass Communication major from Middletown, Del., earned an Award of Excellence in the Student Documentary Competition’s Micro-Documentary Category with “The Spirit of Ecstasy: The Rolls Royce.”
