Center for Community Engagement building in downtown York

About Us

Mission: The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) promotes the College's positive relationship with the local community and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in York.

Core Values: The York College Center for Community Engagement recognizes the tireless efforts of the citizens in our community on behalf of our community. It is this work that inspires our COMMUNITY P.R.I.D.E. represented in our core values.

Partner with the community by connecting the students, faculty, and academic resources of York College to the needs of the organizations, businesses, and initiatives in the York community.

Rally people to support the positive changes happening in movements of York, providing space, encouraging collaborations, and fostering vital relationships in our community.

Inform and engage our community through Community-Based Learning opportunities for our students and unbiased research from the Glatfelter Institute of Public Policy.

Develop community and research-minded leaders—both in the community and among our York College students by creating more engaged citizens.

Empower people, particularly historically underrepresented populations, to work toward a more socially just community.

    Center for Community Engagement Facilities

Community Room - Equipped with HDMI compatible projector, drop-down projection screen, and built-in speakers, the Community Room provides the multimedia necessary for your audiovisual needs. Cozy enough for groups of 20-30 and spacious enough for groups of 70 or more.

Fireplace Room - Aptly named for its functioning gas fireplace, the Fireplace Room is a wonderful space for a dinner or formal board meeting. This space comfortably seats 15-40 based on layout needs.

Mural Room - Showcasing murals depicting Colonial York City painted in the 1960s by artist Charles X. Carlson, the Mural Room sets the stage for mixing and mingling amongst guests. Use this space in combination with the Community Room or Fireplace Room to stage your buffet, serve drinks from behind the bar, or simply as a gathering space for your guests.

Arthur J. Glatfelter Institute for Public Policy Conference Room - This informal space is perfect for staff meetings, focus groups, and other small business gatherings. Equipped with an HDMI compatible television monitor and modular tables, the flexibility of this room works well for most small occasions. Seats up to 18 based on layout needs.

    Current Exhibits

The Center for Community Engagement hosts rotating exhibits throughout the building. If you are interested in touring one of our exhibits, we recommend calling ahead to set up a time that the entirety of the exhibit is open to the public.

    The current exhibit(s) include:

    • Assemblage, an exhibition by Richard Craighead of Inclusive Art Movement (IAM) York and photographer Shelby Elaine, features the bringing together of a community of color to represent unity, action, and cohesive representation of strength in communities. Originally exhibited as part of Creative York’s Identity exhibition during March 2019, as well as Marketview Arts’ Becoming and Assembling exhibition curated by Ophelia Chambliss during July 2019, Assemblage has found a long-term home at York College’s Center for Community Engagement (CCE) from November 2019 until October 2020.
