Introduction

York College of Pennsylvania (“YCP” or “We”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Website Privacy Statement (this “Privacy Statement” or “Statement”). This Statement describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the Website www.ycp.edu and associated domains (our “Websites”) and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

This Statement applies to information we collect:

  • On the Websites.
  • In email, text, and other electronic messages between you and the Websites.
  • Through mobile and desktop applications you download from the Websites, which provide dedicated non-browser-based interaction between you and the Websites.

It does not apply to information collected by us offline or through any other means, including on any other websites operated by third parties, including through any application or content that may link to or be accessible from or on the Websites which are not otherwise operated or controlled by YCP.  For instance, we work with various vendors regularly or on a periodic basis.

Children Under the Age of 16

The Websites are primarily intended for prospective students, students, parents, alumni, employees, and other members of the YCP community. In some circumstances, YCP may collect limited information about individuals under the age of 16, including prospective-student information submitted through YCP forms or received from educational, testing, or recruitment-related sources. YCP uses such information for admissions, recruitment, enrollment, communications, and related educational purposes. YCP does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Websites without appropriate consent where required by law. Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It

We collect several types of information from and about users of our Websites, including information:

  • By which you may be personally identified, such as name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number, or any other identifier by which you may be contacted online or offline (“personal information”);
  • That is about you but individually does not identify you; and/or
  • About your internet connection, the equipment you use to access our Websites, and usage details.

This information may include contact details, academic interests, school or graduation-year information, and other information relevant to admissions, recruitment, enrollment, or communications.

Information You Provide to Us

The information we collect on or through our Websites may include:

  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on our Websites. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our Websites, subscribing to our service, posting material, or requesting further services. We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with our Websites.
  • Records and copies of your correspondence (including email addresses) if you contact us.
  • Your responses to surveys that we might ask you to complete for research purposes.
  • Details of transactions you conduct through our Websites. You may be required to provide financial information before placing an order or entering into a transaction through our Websites.

We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, scripts, software development kits, web beacons, analytics tools, advertising technologies, session measurement tools, chat or messaging features, and similar technologies on the Websites. We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information:

  • Tracking Technologies. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this site may then be inaccessible or not function properly.
  • Promotional Offers from YCP. If you do not wish to have your contact information used by YCP to promote our own or third parties’ products or services, you can opt out by logging into the Websites and adjusting your user preferences in your account profile, where an account profile is provided by us, by checking or unchecking the relevant boxes or by sending us an email stating your request to ltshelp@ycp.edu. If we have sent you a promotional email, you may send us a return email asking to be omitted from future email distributions.
  • Targeted Advertising and Similar Technologies. If we use cookies, pixels, tags, or similar technologies for advertising, retargeting, or campaign measurement, you may manage certain choices through the cookie-preference tool available on the Websites, where available, or by using browser or platform-level controls.   • SMS Messaging.  We may use your phone number to send SMS or similar messages where you have requested or agreed to receive them, or where otherwise permitted by law. We may disclose phone numbers and related messaging data to service providers that help us deliver, manage, and document these communications. We do not sell phone numbers collected for SMS messaging or share them with third parties for their own marketing purposes.     
  • Opting Out of Text Messages. If you wish to be removed from receiving future text messages from YCP, you can opt out by texting stop, stop., end, end., quit, quit., cancel, cancel., unsubscribe, unsubscribe.

Privacy Rights Requests

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply to your personal information, you may have certain privacy rights, such as the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of certain personal information. These rights are subject to applicable legal requirements, limitations, and exceptions. Data Security

We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers behind firewalls. Any payment transactions will be encrypted.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our Websites, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone. We urge you to be careful about giving out information in public areas of the Websites like message boards. The information you share in public areas may be viewed by any user of the Websites.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Websites. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Websites.

Changes to Our Privacy Statement

We post any changes we make to our Privacy Statement on this page with a notice that the Privacy Statement has been updated on the home page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ personal information, we will notify you through a notice on the Websites’ home page. The date the Privacy Statement was last revised is identified at the top of the page. You are responsible for ensuring we have an up-to-date active and deliverable email address for you, and for periodically visiting our Websites and this Privacy Statement to check for any changes.

FERPA and Other Privacy Notices

Certain student education records may also be subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and YCP’s student-records policies. This Statement applies to personal data processed through YCP’s websites and does not replace any FERPA notice, student-records policy, employment privacy notice, admissions notice, or other privacy notice that applies in a specific context. YCP separately publishes FERPA/student privacy information explaining that FERPA protects the privacy of student education records.
