Campus Life

You didn't apply to York College because you wanted to spend your college days doing nothing but going straight to and from class. You wanted more. If you look at our most successful students, they are the ones who get involved early, even if it's just signing up for a club.

By now, you know York doesn't play around when it comes to giving you lots to do. But that only goes so far. Whether you're living here or commuting, you have to make the effort to be involved - and we have people here to make that as fruitful and fun as possible.

A group of Spartan help work on a community garden for Spartan Service Day 2015.

What should I do while I'm here?

  • Life on campus

What should you do on campus?

Maximizing Your Time Outside the Classroom

At York, the student-run Campus Activities Board (CAB) is in charge of planning most of the fun stuff you’ll see Friday and Saturday evenings, plus many weekdays. Want to get some leadership experience? Think about joining CAB or Student Senate. Anyone can join, regardless of major or year.

    Clubs and Organizations

There are over 100 clubs and organizations on campus, which means you have more than 100 ways you can get involved on campus. We assure you, getting involved will be a pillar experience for you as a York College Spartan. That’s why the Student Activities and Orientation Office host the Involvement Fair during your first week on campus. Get a head start and check out the social media pages of these popular organizations and offices on campus.

  • Parking, shuttles, safety and more

Where you park, how you get around, how we keep you safe and more

    Campus Safety

We’re committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for the York College community. The Campus Safety Office manages campus parking, YCP ID cards, crime prevention, fire safety, and all emergency management. The office is located in Manor Northeast Lobby.

Mark this down: Program the Campus Safety phone number into your phone: 717.815.1314. From help with a dead battery to reacting to an emergency, you want them handy.

Stay connected with Campus Safety 24/7 by downloading the free LiveSafe app from the App Store or Google Play to your mobile devices. Your family can do it, too!

    You’ll be able to:

    1. Share info
    2. Request Assistance
    3. Receive Alerts
    4. Request an escort
    5. Share your location

    Campus Shuttle

Our campus shuttle is a free and easy way for you to get around York College. A live shuttle map is available at http://ycpshuttle.ridesystems.net The campus shuttle transports students between main campus, west campus, and north campus, as well as several area destinations, such as to our downtown York location at Marketview Arts and for First Friday celebrations in Royal Square.

Tip: The shuttle schedule is always posted, but allow yourself extra time if you’re heading to class in case of a delay. Using the shuttle can help if you need to park further away from class.

    Clery Act

Consistent with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, York College provides information regarding campus security policies and relevant statistics here: https://www.ycp.edu/clery-act

    Parking

Commuters and residents all need parking permits. Parking lots all are marked for specific parking designations. Be careful not to park where you’re not supposed to — it’s a quick path to a ticket!

We do have shuttles that can take you around campus. Make sure to factor in shuttle time if you’re trying to time how early to leave for class.

Get a quick parking reference here by clicking "Parking" on the virtual map: https://map.ycp.edu/

3 Steps to Park on Campus

    1. Review our traffic and parking regulations (so there are no surprises!) here.
    2. Pre-register your vehicle and apply online in your College portal. Select the blue MyParking icon. You can also pay with cash or check in the Business Office.
    3. Bring the printed receipt and temporary parking permit to the Campus Safety Office during business hours or during summer orientation. You’ll also need vehicle registration, your student identification card (you get this here, too!), and driver’s license. The permit lasts all year.

The Campus Safety section has more info about the Emergency Alert System, security reports, services and programs, campus maps, and additional ways we make York College safe for everyone.
