In our compact, 30-credit-hour online Master of Accounting program, qualifying students will develop exceptional analytical skills and build familiarity with taxation, auditing, and professional research. Upon graduation, having met the 150 credit hour academic requirement of most states, graduates are prepared to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.

    Online Master of Accounting Requirements and Curriculum

    The online Master of Accounting degree program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, practices, and theories. The program consists of 30 credit hours and can be completed online through synchronous Zoom classes.

    Students begin by strengthening their technical accounting knowledge and developing professional accounting and research skills through 24 core courses. The remaining six credits are earned by completing two elective courses of the student's choice, providing flexibility to either enhance their current specialization or explore new areas.

    Students take a number of core courses and select electives to complete their credit requirements. In each course, MAcc students learn skills that can enhance their work in any sector or open new opportunities, such as financial reporting, financial accounting, and financial management.

    Program Admissions and Tuition

    To apply for admission to the online MAcc degree program, requirements include official undergraduate transcripts, documentation of any previous graduate coursework or professional certifications, and a completed Graduate Studies online application.

    Other components requested may include letters of recommendation and interviews. Students with an undergraduate degree in a field other than accounting will be required to complete background coursework prior to beginning MAcc classes.

    Graduate Accounting Internship

    Students may participate in a graduate accounting internship, offered through ACC 590. Under the guidance of faculty supervisors, students complete a planned and supervised work experience with selected cooperating firms. An excellent opportunity to gain experience in the accounting industry, the internship requires students to submit written deliverables, meet periodically with their supervisor, and participate in an evaluation. Students earn three course credits for completing a minimum of 120 hours of work.
