  • Student Conduct

    Student Conduct

Promoting Student Safety and Respect for Others

York College seeks to establish and maintain an educational environment that provides for the development of students as a whole person with an emphasis on mutual respect, personal and professional integrity, and critical thinking. The College expects its students to conduct themselves in all places and at all times in such a manner as to demonstrate respect, strong personal ethics, and the rights of others as required of good citizens.

The Office of Student Conduct strives to help students gain a‎ greater understanding of these issues of community values and behavioral expectations. If students engage in behavior that violates the policies of the York College Student Code of Conduct they are held responsible for their behavior through the student conduct process. The goals of this process are educationally focused.

We hope to help each student gain an understanding of what it means to be a respectful, responsible member of our community by discussing incidents, and by issuing sanctions designed to help the student better understand the impact inherent to their behavior. We also issue sanctions that focus on the understanding that adults must learn to be responsible for the consequences of their behavior. Consequently, serious or repeated violations of the Student Code of Conduct will lead to more serious sanctions.

  • Requests for Special Housing Accommodations

    Requests for Special Housing Accommodations

The Office of Residence Life understands that some students may need specific housing accommodations. Residential students looking for this support are asked to submit medical documentation from their licensed healthcare provider. This documentation can be uploaded to the Student Housing Application, or sent via email to residencelife@ycp.edu, faxed to 717.849.1644, or mailed to Office of Residence Life, York College of Pennsylvania, 441 Country Club Road, York, PA 17403-3651.

We strongly encourage students to submit medical documentation by the posted deadline on our website to allow ample time to meet their housing accommodations. Late submissions will be addressed, however, a delay could occur depending on the time of the academic year.

Students requesting housing accommodations must provide a letter from a licensed healthcare provider. The letter must:

-Be on the licensed healthcare provider's letterhead

    -Be typed and dated

-Have the licensed healthcare provider's original signature

    -Include a statement of diagnosis

-Identify the functional impact of the symptoms, especially as they might apply to the residential setting

-Identify any specific recommendations for accommodations

If you have any questions regarding this process or the reasonable accommodations we may provide, please call the Office of Residence Life at 717.815.1281.

If you would like to discuss an academic accommodation, please visit Student Accessibility Services for more information.
