Delta Sigma Theta

Intelligence is the Torch of Wisdom

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta envisioned an organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, service, and addressing the social issues of the time.

The Upsilon Delta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, was established on April 29, 2007, at Dickinson College by eleven dedicated, tenacious, and trailblazing women. As the first Black Greek-letter organization at Dickinson College, Upsilon Delta holds a historic and transformative role in the institution's history. Following several years of inactivity, Upsilon Delta was reactivated in November 2018 with a renewed commitment to the sorority’s mission. During its reactivation, the chapter transitioned to a city-wide chapter, extending its reach to include Gettysburg College. In the spring of 2023, York College of Pennsylvania was also added to the Upsilon Delta charter, further solidifying its presence and impact across South Central Pennsylvania.
