Earn College Credits while Attending High School
The York College Dual Enrollment Program partners with area school districts to offer high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit while completing their high school requirements. The program is designed to encourage a broader range of students to experience postsecondary education by allowing the student to concurrently enroll in postsecondary courses and to receive both secondary and postsecondary credit for the coursework at a reduced cost to the student.
Dual Enrollment Process
- Be in your Junior or Senior year of high school.
- Have at least a 3.0 (B) unweighted cumulative grade point average.
- Have consent from a parent/guardian for the student to participate in the York College Dual Enrollment Program.
- Receive a school counselor (or homeschool evaluator)’s consent for the student to participate in the York College Dual Enrollment Program and have their official high school transcript submitted.
- Be prepared to attend on-campus classes in accordance with your instructor’s attendance policy.
Applying for the York College Dual Enrollment Program is easy! There is no application fee, and you can apply online. Interested students must submit a new Dual Enrollment application each semester that they want to enroll as a Dual Enrollment student.

The above amounts do not include the cost of books and/or materials. These costs are your responsibility and may be purchased directly from the College Bookstore.
Course Eligibility Requirements
Students must meet all prerequisite requirements for any college course in which they enroll. Prerequisite information can be found in the Course Descriptions listed in the Undergraduate Catalog.
Students who are interested in taking a college math or foreign language course may be required to complete an online placement test in the subject area to ensure their eligibility for specific courses in that subject.
Course Recommendations
Students participating in the York College Dual Enrollment Program may take up to six (6) credits each semester. Students should work with their high school counselor or homeschool evaluator to determine if specific college subjects or courses will count toward certain high school credit requirements, or if their Dual Enrollment classes will be taken as electives or extracurricular toward their future college or career goals.
Course Scheduling
The current schedule of classes allows you to review available courses offered each semester in specific academic areas. Each section of the course has a maximum enrollment number which may limit availability. Please be aware the Open Seat number is a “real time” number and can change between the time of a search and actual enrollment.
Your York College admissions counselor will provide additional guidance on course selection and registration information during your admission interview when you apply. Once you have been approved by your admissions counselor, you will then need to set up your YCP Network account and pay your deposit for your class registration to be processed.
Dual Enrollment students typically take 100-200 level courses that do not require prerequisites. These general education courses are designed to transfer easily to other colleges or universities. Students should work with their school counselor or homeschool evaluator to complete the application requirements. The costs are the same. Dual Enrollment Benefits
Dual enrollment offers students a valuable opportunity to begin college courses early and at a lower cost. By engaging in these classes, students not only challenge themselves academically but also gain insights into potential future programs of study and majors. They experience the academic rigor of college classrooms, preparing them for life beyond high school. Skills such as time management, effective study habits, navigating syllabi, and purchasing textbooks become second nature, setting them up for success in their academic journey.
Dual Enrollment students can also leverage campus resources, such as Library and Technology Services, the MyYCP Student Portal, and York's Student Success Division.
College in the High School
College in the High School is a partnership between York College of Pennsylvania and Dallastown Area School District. This initiative provides students the opportunity to earn college credit(s) within their high school classroom.
Course Offering:
MKT 100 Foundations of Marketing
Marketing begins with the market. Therefore, this course starts with the identification of potential customers. It then deals with decisions about the marketing mix (product, price, promotion, and distribution) that will satisfy those potential customers. The marketing mix decisions are made in light of today’s and tomorrow’s changing environment including the economy, ecology, ethics, technology, culture, lifestyle, global markets, and competition.
- 3 credit hours
The course will be taught at Dallastown High School (DHS) and is only open to Dallastown High School students.
- Maintain good standing in DAHS academically and behaviorally
- Obtain a passing grade of 2.0 or higher in their dual enrolled course
DAHS College in the High School students who apply for undergraduate admission to York College by November 15 of their senior year will receive their admission and merit scholarship decision before December 25.
DAHS College in the High School students who apply after the November 15 deadline will receive their admission and merit scholarship decision before March 15.
York College will award a minimum academic scholarship in the amount of $4,000 annually for students living on- campus (total value: minimum $16,000). Students must meet the defined academic progress to maintain their academic scholarship once enrolled at YCP.
York College will offer one Instant Decision Day each year to DAHS College in the High School students who remain in good academic standing at DAHS and apply to YCP following successful completion of one or more dual enrollment courses.
- College credits are awarded through York College of Pennsylvania, an accredited college, and will transfer to most major colleges and universities.
- All courses offered will count towards the appropriate York College of Pennsylvania degree.
- College in the High School courses are weighted heavier than high school classes, and positively influence GPA when applying to colleges/universities.
