In the ever-changing landscape of the workforce, we see workers of all ages coming together.

The latest episode of At The Center explores multi-generational workplaces, proposing that differences between generations strengthen connections and create collaboration.

Joining our host, Dr. Tamara Sniad, are four panelists, ages 26-80, sharing trends and personal experiences in multi-age workplaces: Sophia Bisbal, Assistant Director of Student Activities and Orientation at York College of Pennsylvania; Sully Pinos, York County Economic Alliance’s Executive Director of the Bloom Business Empowerment Center; Cathy Bollinger, York County Community Foundation’s Director of Grantmaking; and Harry V. Sigley, Director of Northeast Operations at CMTS LLC.

The GCCI hosts a live podcast event once a semester, allowing the local community to participate in discussions of current trends. The episode was recorded in front of a live audience on the YCP campus, including students, faculty, and community members. It delves into a diverse range of topics, from positive collaboration between generations to challenging age gaps to AI in the workplace. Before and after the recording, the panelists and local community members were given time to chat with students and faculty. This networking opportunity allowed attendees to open a dialogue about multi-generational workplaces, sharing their own stories and experiences.

"I loved the interaction with the students," an attendee shared. "I am looking forward to future podcasts and opportunities to interact with them!"

Ultimately, the panelists agreed that engaging with and listening to colleagues with different life experiences is paramount. “You never know who you’re gonna end up next to,” explained Sully Pinos. “I encourage you to ask questions, because you’ll find so many commonalities. Be curious and learn from each other.”
