Kaitlin Dannenberg of Mechanicsburg, a sophomore environmental horticulture major at York College, is the most recent recipient of funding from the College’s Weinstock Student Venture Investment Fund. Dannenberg's company, KRAM, is developing innovative new systems for home hydroponics that allow individuals to legally grow medical marijuana, in their own home, at a significant savings compared to other sources.

The Weinstock Student Venture Investment Fund, a program of York College’s J.D. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship, is specifically designed to help York College students take their business from idea to implementation through funding, education, mentorship, and strategic networking opportunities. Norm Weinstock, 1958 York College graduate and founder of the Weinstock Student Venture Investment Fund, believes Dannenberg has expertise and drive to make her business a success.

“Kaitlin had an extremely well-thought-out presentation and delivered it with exceptional poise,” says Weinstock. “She certainly deserves the funding and support from the Weinstock Student Venture Investment Fund.”

Dannenberg has only just finished her first year at York College, but already she is making an impact. Charles MacVean, Ph.D., Dean of the Kinsley School of Engineering, Sciences and Technology, notes Dannenberg’s intelligence and enthusiasm as keys to her success.

“Kaitlin is one of the students in the inaugural freshman class for the new Environmental Horticulture major. She is a very bright and driven student, and her enthusiasm about plants is contagious,” says MacVean. “We are so lucky to have Kaitlin with us to share her enthusiasm and entrepreneurship.”
