York College of Pennsylvania has named Jerry Alberts Director of Alumni Relations. He previously served as Chief Development Officer for the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research, where he was responsible for raising more than $25 million during his three years of service. That was the highest total of fundraising by any development officer in the 42-year history of the Cancer Center.

During his career, Alberts has also served Purdue as Director of Corporate Relations for the College of Technology and as Chief Development Officer of the College of Engineering’s School of Industrial Engineering (IE). He led the School in meeting and surpassing its $25.3 million capital campaign goal eight months ahead of deadline by raising $18.5 million in three years. He also led the School’s student/alumni mentoring initiative team, which matched IE alumni with current IE undergraduate and non-thesis graduate/PhD students. The program was awarded the Purdue College of Engineering’s 2018 Team Staff Award of Excellence. IE also benefited from gifts totaling more than $950,000 from IE alumni who participated as mentors in the program.

Alberts is a seasoned academic and healthcare fund development professional with major giving, corporate relations, and foundation relations leadership experience. He is a veteran of four major capital campaigns: three at Purdue and Clemson universities and one at Penn State University.

At Clemson, he served as Senior Director of Corporate/Foundation Relations and at Penn State, he was Executive Director of Individual Gifts at Hershey Medical Center and the College of Medicine. Alberts earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting at Indiana State University.

“We are thrilled to have Jerry Alberts joining York College as Director of Alumni Relations,” said Kristen Gurreri, Senior Director, College Development. “He has extensive experience working with alumni, volunteer boards, and creating and overseeing mentorship programs. From his past work at Penn State Hershey, Clemson, and Purdue, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. We are very excited for alumni to get to connect with him and know he will do an outstanding job in this role.”
