York College of Pennsylvania is preparing for its annual service tradition, SpartanServe 2026, with an expanded schedule and broader reach across York County. This year’s effort is expanding to three days for the first time ever, from October 23 through October 25.

The extended timeline allows 140 York College volunteers to complete 20 projects in partnership with 15 local community organizations. Participants are projected to log 385 volunteer hours, generating more than $13,900 in economic impact value for the area.

Broadening Community Outreach

This year's projects span a range of activities across the county. Volunteers will assist with operations for the York Halloween Parade and organize production props at the DreamWrights Center for Community Arts. On campus, students will help host WellSpan Health’s Youth Summit, bringing regional health initiatives directly to York College grounds.

Since it started, SpartanServe has engaged 509 total volunteers who contributed more than 2,475 hours to 30 partner organizations, representing an aggregate economic impact value exceeding $81,690.

Leadership and Volunteer Logistics

Jessica Kasiga, Director of Volunteer Engagement at York College, is directing SpartanServe for the first time.

"Stepping into this role and seeing the enthusiasm for our expanded three-day format has been incredible," Kasiga said. "The dedication our students, faculty, staff, and alumni show for giving back highlights what makes York College and the surrounding community so special."

Kasiga noted that expanding the event opens up more opportunities for participation across campus.

"Whether assisting at the Healthy Youth Summit on campus or helping out at local arts organizations, every volunteer helps deepen our regional connections," Kasiga added. "With options spanning three days, there are plenty of ways to lend a hand. I encourage the entire Spartan family to register through the portal and join us."
