York College’s Marketview Arts (37 West Philadelphia Street, York) is hosting two powerful exhibitions through May 21. Exhibitions are open to the public free of charge.

I’m fine., featured in the Brick Room, was organized by Creative York in collaboration with artists Maureen Joyce and Carrie Breschi. The project is dedicated to Joyce’s son, Patrick, who completed his life in 2018 after struggling with mental illness. The exhibit features masks created by local community members.

Engendered, located in Gallery Hall, features artists addressing gender identity in a variety of ways that include examining their own relationship to established gender norms and expectations, responding to the heteronormative male/female binary, and asserting Queerness as a fluid alternative to the idea of a stable gender identity.
