Meet Paige Canova

Paige Canova, PhD, is an adjunct biology instructor at York College of Pennsylvania. She earned her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Dartmouth College and her BS in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

Dr. Canova’s research focused on how viruses interact with their hosts, particularly how herpes simplex virus (HSV) establishes and maintains latent infections in neurons. Her work has used human stem cell derived sensory neurons, molecular biology techniques, and live cell imaging to study viral infection. She has published research in 'Virology' and 'Viruses' and presented her findings at scientific conferences.

As an instructor, Dr. Canova draws on her research and laboratory teaching experience to help students connect biological concepts with hands on investigation. She aims to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, interpreting results, and building confidence in their scientific skills.
