Music at York College

Highlighted by a dynamic faculty, state-of-the art facilities and three career-focused majors, the Division of Music is entering a new era of excitement and change.

Perform alongside accomplished faculty. Receive one-on-one instruction. Showcase your talents in one of many student recitals, or work on the student record company. It’s the kind of hands-on, personalized music education that helps you flourish as an artist.

We provide music students with a unique combination of performance opportunities, experiential learning, and academic studies within the liberal arts tradition that gives you a well-rounded background. Our goal is to prepare students for successful careers in the music world. Preparation starts from day one, as you’ll get advanced instruction, intensive coaching, and the opportunity to perform in numerous recitals and concerts. Our selective program requires an application and live audition. It’s your first step to pursuing your dreams of a career in music.

Join us for the Fall Musical

Six awkward spelling competitors vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, these tweens discover that winning (and losing) isn't everything. Guided by a compassionate former spelling champion, a sarcastic rules-coordinator, and an ex-convict comfort-counselor, the story involves laugh-out-loud encounters with blatantly honest life-lessons that everyone can relate to. This show is rated PG-13 due to mild cursing and adult-themed humor from the perspective of adolescents.
