Belle Fields Earns NFHCA All-American Honors

York College junior field hockey goalie Belle Fields earned NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) All-American honors as the three squads were announced on Tuesday.

Fields is the third Spartan field hockey player to earn the national All-American honor as she joins Ali Posey and Greta Plappert in the Spartan All-American club. Posey was a two-time honoree as she was a third team pick in 2015 and then earned second team honors as a senior in 2017. Plappert was a third-team selection in 2018.

Fields earned third-team honors for her outstanding 2023 campaign. Fields was named the MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year, earned first-team MAC All-Commonwealth and was an NFHCA All-Region V first-team selection. She was one of three MAC Commonwealth field hockey players to earn All-American accolades in 2023.

Fields finished the year owning a record of 16-5 as she started all 21 games, accumulating 1,275:10 of time in the cage. She allowed 12 goals, good for a goals against average of 0.56 while her 49 saves equated to a .803 save percentage. Fields recorded 11 shutouts in her 21 games played.

Fields single season ranks her among the all-time greats for the Green and White. Her 16 wins, the 11 shutouts, and her 0.56 goals against average are all program bests.
For her Spartan career, Fields has played in 48 games with 42 starts. She owns a 0.64 goals against average with 109 saves, a save percentage of .801 and an overall record of 31-11 with 17 career shutouts.

Fields will enter her senior year ten wins short of Megan Eckenrode's school record of 41 while her 17 shutouts leave her just one behind Eckenrode's record of 18. Her career save percentage would be second on the all-time list while her goals against average would be tops in Spartan history.

Fields finished first in the MAC Commonwealth in goals against average, second in save percentage, first in shutouts, and first in shutouts per game. Nationally, Fields finished the year fifth in goals against average and 21^st in save percentage. As a team, the Spartans finished 12^th in Division III in shutouts per game and 16^th in winning percentage against the sixth toughest schedule in the nation.
