Hey Spartans,

This is Sophie Barnes, official card-carrying member of Bachelor Nation and Alumni Relations marketing and communications intern. Last night was episode 2 of this season of the Bachelorette with Clare Crawley as our front runner and featuring Zac Clark ‘06, a Spartan of our own, as one pining for her heart (along with 30 other men, of course). Here, with the Zac Track, I present to you a recap of what you may have missed last night!

Being Episode 2 of the season, we have jumped right into the competition for group dates and one-on-one dates. Our Zac was one of those invited to the group date, with the card from Clare saying, “Looking for a guy who speaks to my heart.” The date was probably a little bit different than those you’ve experienced (well, of course, considering there were 10 guys). The date involved the men trying to win over Clare through the different love languages, including gifts, words of affirmation, and physical touch.

Following the date was a cocktail party, during which things seemed to take a turn. When no one jumped to take Clare aside for conversation, she addressed the men with her discomfort, to which Zac jumped up wanting to spend quality time with her. Zac certainly did get some quality time with Clare, as he asked her about her journey to becoming the Bachelorette. Clare even said, “I’m loving my conversation with Zac C!” That’s our Spartan!

As the episode continued, there was a one-on-one date and another group date that Zac was not a part of (Rude!). However, leading up to the conclusion of the episode and a preview of next week, there were no shortages of awkward moments and conversations — including strip dodgeball, many interrupted conversations, and even Clare sending someone home in the middle of a group date. Only time will tell where this journey will take Clare and Zac, but one thing is for sure: we are thrilled to be along for the ride.

Till next week, Bachelor Nation / Spartans!
