International Students

York College welcomes all International Students interested in pursuing higher education. We appreciate the culture and perspective you bring to campus. We look forward to working with you.

International students are those who are not U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Residents who have or will apply for an F-1 student visa.

1. Application Deadlines:

  • May 1st for Fall (September) applicants
  • September 1st for Spring (January) applicants 

2. Application Procedures:

To be considered for admission, international students must prove they are completing or have completed a full secondary school program which allows them to pursue university studies in their home country.

The following documentation must be submitted before an admission decision is made:

  • FREE Online Application for admission
  • Secondary (High) school transcript/report
    Submit an official copy of your secondary school transcript along with your country’s national college entrance examination reports
  • Post Secondary school transcript/report (for transfer students)
    If you have attended or are currently enrolled in a college or university, submit official copies of your transcripts and credential evaluation. Applicants are responsible for obtaining a “course by course” evaluation of all foreign transcripts. For a list of approved evaluating agencies, click here.

    NOTE: All foreign documents submitted with the application must have an official English translation.
     
  • Test Scores

    Any of the following is required for native English speakers:
    SAT
    ACT plus writing
     
  •  English proficiency

    Any
    of the following test results is required for non-native English speakers:
    TOEFL
    IELTS

    Note: A minimum TOEFL score of 530 (paper) or 72(IBT) OR IELTS score of 6 is required for admission.  No English test is required for students that have successfully completed 30 or more academic credits at a U.S. College or University or achieved a 430 or higher score in the Critical reading section of the SAT.

3. F-1 Student Visa Eligibility:

Students who have or will be applying for an F-1 student visa must submit the following documentation before York College can issue an I-20 document for the student visa application, change of immigration status, or SEVIS record transfer:

  • Certification of Finances
  • Sponsor’s Proof of Income:
    Any
    of the following is acceptable:
    -Copy of most recent tax return
    -Bank Statement or letter
    -Employment letter + 6 months of pay stubs.

NOTE: U.S. colleges are required by law to obtain actual documentation that funds currently exist at least for the student’s first year of study and that, barring unforeseen circumstances, adequate funding will be available from the same or equally dependable sources for subsequent years of study in the U.S.

International students must be financially independent and capable of bearing all the costs associated with attending York College of Pennsylvania as the college does not have scholarships or financial aid available to assist foreign students.
