York College’s JL Smith New Play Festival will kick off at 7 p.m., May 6, with performances of six 10-minute plays and a keynote speech delivered by Los Angeles-based playwright Charly Evon Simpson. Simpson will discuss her career and what drew her to playwriting; she will take questions from the Zoom audience.

York College of Pennsylvania has selected Anthony DeCocinis as its first vice president of finance and campus operations. DeCocinis currently serves as vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer at Dominican University of California. He will begin serving in this position on July 1, following approval by the College’s board of trustees.
Sophia “Sophie” Barnes ’22 is the incoming Student Senate President at York College of Pennsylvania. She has big goals to tackle in her year as president, including period poverty and grading systems.
“Recounting,” a full-length play by Lancaster resident Dave Nice, was selected as the winner of York College of Pennsylvania’s inaugural JL Smith New Play Festival. A staged reading of the play, which was selected by a panel of professional theatre artists, will be directed by York College alumnus Cal Weary and presented live at 7 p.m., May 7, on Zoom.
