York College of PA's J.D. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship Hosts Alumni-Owned Lehr Labs

York College of Pennsylvania’s J.D. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship has acquired a new tenant, Lehr Labs, a 3D printing company that combines innovative technology, extensive manufacturing experience, and a passion for 3D printing. The company is led by Mechanical Engineering grads Evan Lehr (2021) and Marcos Rivera (2020).

The J.D. Brown Center is located on York College’s north campus between the Codorus Creek and Rail Trail. It serves to link the region’s entrepreneurial community with the knowledge and resources of York College through its business incubator, student engagement, and campus and community partners. Their new space was the ideal spot for Lehr Labs to house its brand-new large-format 3D printer.

"Lehr Labs has taken their passion and turned it into a viable and growing business," said Oscar Winters, Executive Director of the J.D. Brown Center. “As they onboard new equipment and capabilities, they've utilized the resources offered by York College to become part of our ecosystem, giving current students the opportunity to learn and grow with them.”

Lehr Labs was awarded a grant by the College’s Weinstock Venture Investment Fund (WVIF) in 2022 and received additional funding after participating in the McNees Accelerator in Spring 2023. They have since received additional investment through the WVIF. Additionally, Lehr Labs is already working with the Kinsley School of Engineering on various projects and collaborating with MRG Labs, the first tenant of the Knowledge Park at York College, to develop new products.

Evan Lehr, founder of Lehr Labs, expressed excitement about the new location. "Everything needs more space to grow," he said. "The J.D. Brown Center provides the additional room we need to expand our business without the prohibitive market costs and puts us in close proximity to collaborative partners."
