York College’s Arthur J. Glatfelter Institute for Public Policy will host “From Exiled to Homecoming: The Story of a Deported Veteran” on April 4 in Weinstock Lecture Hall, Willman Business Center. The film “Exiled” will be shown at 6 p.m., followed by a talk at 6:30 p.m. featuring attorney Craig Shagin and Hector Barajas-Varela, a former paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division who was deported after serving honorably in the U.S. military. The event is open to the public free of charge.

Barajas-Varela was given a pardon by the Governor of California and is now a U.S. citizen after being deported for 14 years. He advocates for other veterans who have been or are being deported and is the founder of Deported Veterans Support House, a nonprofit in Mexico, to advocate for and support veterans who are being deported.
