York College received recognition from elected officials during 50th Anniversary Celebration
York College’s 50th Anniversary has garnered notable recognition from elected officials at the local, state and federal levels. A proclamation from the City of York was delivered by Mayor Michael Helfrich at the Oct. 5 First Friday celebration, and one from the County of York was shared at the Sept. 19 Commissioners meeting. Gov. Tom Wolf, who formerly served as chair of the College’s Board of Trustees, sent an official letter of congratulations. Pennsylvania House of Representatives House Resolution 1043, commemorating and celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of York College of Pennsylvania, was presented by Rep. Seth M. Grove ’02, Rep. Carol Hill-Evans and Rep. Dan Moul in September. President Pamela Gunter-Smith was also invited to speak on the floor of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Oct. 11.
U.S. Congressman Scott Perry commemorated the 50th with a Congressional Resolution that was read on the House Floor to Speaker Paul Ryan and added to the nation’s permanent historical record on Sept. 24. District Director Jay Ostrich presented a copy of the Congressional Record to President Pamela Gunter-Smith on Oct. 2 at an event on campus.
