York College Introduces a New Campus Tradition — Spartan Day!

November 03, 2020
A flag is posted in the ground beside a tree. It reads Spartan Day and features the Spartan logo
This flag flies on campus to alert students and faculty that today is Spartan Day.

Let’s celebrate! Today is York College’s first-ever Spartan Day!

What’s Spartan Day? It’s the newest campus tradition at York College . . . a surprise day off from classes (with faculty permission) for students. The secret day is announced early in the morning by a special flag on Main and West campuses.

This year’s Spartan Day is a bit subdued to allow for social distancing and other COVID requirements. Special free comfort food items are being served throughout the day on Main (Campbell Hall lawn) and West (Commissary patio) campuses.

  • 9 to 11 a.m.
    Hot chocolate and assorted donuts
  • Noon to 2 p.m.
Mac and cheese with toppings, assorted ice cream novelties (Iosue Student Union patio), and bottles of water
  • 4 to 6 p.m.
    Hot chocolate and s’mores kits

Here’s hoping Spartan Day becomes a memorable part of the York College experience!
