Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf to offer address at York College commencement on May 12
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf will be the speaker at the 50th commencement in the history of York College. Alumnus Anthony Campisi, president/CEO of Glatfelter Insurance Group, will receive an honorary degree at the May 12 ceremony, which will begin at 10:15 a.m. on the campus mall. Tickets will be required for seating under the tent, where the ceremony will be held. A live video stream of commencement (www.ycp.edu/commencement) will begin at 10 a.m.
Gov. Wolf, our commencement speaker, was elected governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in November 2014. He is the former chairman and CEO of his family’s business, The Wolf Organization. Prior to being elected governor, Wolf served as Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Revenue under Gov. Ed Rendell.
A long-time supporter and advocate of the College, Gov. Wolf serves as a trustee emeritus member of the Board of Trustees and is former chairman of the York College Board of Trustees, a position from which he resigned when he became Secretary of Revenue. He served on the “A Time to Act” Campaign Steering Committee and was a member of York College’s Collegiate Council before becoming a trustee. In 2006 he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the College.
Our honorary degree recipient is a 1976 York College graduate. Mr. Campisi serves as a trustee emeritus of York College. He chairs the Center for Community Engagement Advisory Board and is a member of the York College Community Opportunity Scholarship Program (YCCOSP) Board. Mr. Campisi previously served as a member of York College’s Collegiate Council. He served on the “A Time to Act” Campaign Steering Committee and was the 2011 recipient of the College’s Professional Leadership and Service Award.
Mr. Campisi has been the president/CEO of Glatfelter Insurance Group since 1999. Before becoming president, he was the executive vice president/operations from 1994-1999 and vice president/finance from 1980-1994. He serves as president of the Arthur J. and Lee R. Glatfelter Foundation.
