This family-friendly musical, which features an original story around the characters of America’s most ghoulishly likable family, is written by Marshal Brickman and Rick Elice with music by Andrew Lippa.
Wednesday Addams (Vicky Cox, junior mass communications major from Vineland, N.J.), the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. His name is Lucas Beineke (James Manjo, MBA student from York), and his parents Mal and Alice (Nick Comito, junior music major from Greensburg, and Angelica Peaco, senior music major from Baltimore) don’t know what to think about Wednesday and her quirky family. Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother she has fallen for Lucas. Now, Gomez Addams (Josh Starkey, sophomore mass communications major from Aberdeen, Md.) must do something he's never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia (Allison Thomas, sophomore mass communications major from Felton). Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's “normal” boyfriend and his parents. Throughout the story, the rest of the iconic Addams Family members, Fester (Michael DiPuppo, sophomore music major from Mohnton), Grandma (Becky Marcus, senior music major from Mechanicsburg), Pugsley (Christopher Dillon, sophomore secondary education-English major from Tinton Falls, N.J.) and Lurch (Brandon Flemmens, sophomore biology major from York), along with an ensemble of meddling ancestors, add spicy complications to the entertaining encounter of two very different families coming together.
The Addams Family is directed by Erin Lippard, director of vocal studies at York College, features scenic design by Seth Werner, production manager, costume design by Priscilla Kaufhold, and lighting design by guest artist William Kenyon. The all-student cast is supported by a 13-piece faculty orchestra led by Matthew Inkster, director of instrumental studies.
The Addams Family is presented through special arrangement with, and all authorized performance materials are supplied by, Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
