York College to host Oct. 28 talk 'Israel: Challenges and Triumphs in the 21st Century'
The founding director of the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University will present “Israel: Challenges and Triumphs in the 21st Century” at 7 p.m., Oct. 28, in York College’s Waldner Performing Arts Center. The talk by Ilan Troen, Ph.D., is open to the public free of charge. This program is being hosted in partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Councils of York and of Harrisburg.
Troen is a distinguished scholar and historian on Israel who serves as co-editor of the leading journal Israel Studies. He has edited two recent works, Zionism in the Twenty-First Century (2014) and Essential Israel: Essays for the Twenty-First Century (2017). A native of Boston, Troen returned last year to his permanent home in Beer-Sheva, Israel. He is professor emeritus at Ben-Gurion University and Brandeis University.
