York College’s Division of Theatre will present “The Woman in Black,” based on the gothic 1983 novel by Susan Hill, at 7:30 p.m.April 12-14, and at 3 p.m. on April 14, in the Perko Black Box Theatre. Tickets can be reserved at www.ycp.edu/theatre or by calling the box office at 717.600.3868.

Adapted by Stephen Mallatratt and directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Suzanne Delle, the College’s production tells the story of lawyer Arthur Kipps, who has sought out the help of an Actor to help him tell the story of an experience from his youth. Kipps (played by professional actor Patrick Grimes of Newport, R.I.) believes that this retelling will help him “exorcise” the experience from his mind and rid him of his terrifying nightmares.

As Kipps and the Actor, played by senior theatre major Mitchell Nease of Harrisburg, reconstruct the gruesome memory, they become immersed in the strange tale of the deceased Mrs. Drablow and her Eel Marsh House. Secrets and unexplainable events occur as they uncover a large number of documents and information that must be sifted through in order to settle Mrs. Drablow’s affairs.
