Senior theatre majors will present their capstone projects during York College’s annual Director’s Fest at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 29-Dec. 1, in the Perko Black Box Theatre. Tickets are free but reservations are recommended. Seating reservations are available at or by calling the box office at 717.600.3868. A reception and talkback with directors, actors and playwrights will be held after the Nov. 29 opening night performance in the second-floor lobby of the Waldner Performing Arts Center.

Lyle Sweppenheiser, senior theatre major from Factoryville, last seen on stage as King Louis XVI in “Marie Antoinette,” is directing “James Franco and Me: an Unauthorized Satire” as his senior capstone. York College’s production will be the college premiere of the play written by Kevin Broccoli, who will be in residence. “James Franco and Me” follows the character Kevin as he anxiously spends the night in a hospital waiting room, aided in passing the time by none other than James Franco. Broccoli is played by David Tyson, a senior theatre major from Harrisburg. The unique aspect of the production is that the character of James Franco is played by a different actor each performance.

Craig Babineaux, a senior theatre major from Odenton, Md., who audiences may recognize as Ira Aldridge from last spring’s “Red Velvet, will portray the title role in “Nat Turner in Jerusalem.” Turner was an African-American slave who led a two-day rebellion of slaves and free African-Americans in Southampton County, Va., on Aug. 21, 1831. The rebellion caused the death of approximately 60 white men, women and children. The play chronicles Turner’s last night in a Virginia jail before his execution. The show is professionally directed by Paul Hood, an actor and playwright from Harrisburg.
