York College awarded $460K grant from Stabler Foundation for nursing scholarship
The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation of Harrisburg has awarded a $460,000 grant to York College of Pennsylvania for scholarships to undergraduate students in the Stabler Department of Nursing. This latest award augments a scholarship fund established by the Stabler Foundation in 2009.
More than 100 York College students have received scholarship support from the Stabler Foundation since the fund’s inception. Scholarships are awarded to incoming first-year students in the Nursing program and are renewable for their four years of study.
“This generous grant allows us to extend the opportunity to make a York College education – a world-class, private education – accessible to even more of our deserving students,” said President Pamela Gunter-Smith. “We are pleased to receive this grant, as it enables the College to further its mission to prepare students for productive and purposeful lives and support the Stabler Foundation’s philanthropic vision.”
The Stabler Department of Nursing houses some of the College’s most prominent undergraduate and graduate-level programs. The Department has been recognized through various accolades, including numerous Nightingale Award of Pennsylvania nominations recognizing excellence in nursing for faculty, and consistently high pass rates for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing licensure exam for students.
