State-Of-The-Art Civil Engineering Center Opens at York College
The College campus continues to grow with the opening of the new Civil Engineering Center on September 10, 2018. Students in this program have opportunities on campus to further learn and develop their skills in civil engineering with the help of this new building dedicated just for them. College President, Dr. Pamela Gunter-Smith was in attendance along with faculty members for the ribbon cutting ceremony to mark this big milestone for York College. “We are thrilled to be in the new Civil Engineering Center which is providing much needed space. It is affording us the opportunity to better teach students in the small classroom, hands on, active learning style that is typical of all of our engineering programs here at YCP,” said Scott Hamilton, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Civil Engineering.
York College’s Civil Engineering program is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position or graduate school upon graduation. “We are confident that this new space will serve our current and future students well and give them an opportunity to learn engineering in a state-of-the-art facility,” said Hamilton. Opportunities available to our students range from hands-on experience to networking with the Civil Engineering community and sets our program apart from many in higher education.
