Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet to perform at York College on Jan. 25

January 15, 2019
The Parker Quartet

The Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet will perform at York College at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 25, in DeMeester Recital Hall, Wolf Hall. Made possible thanks to a generous gift from the Boustead Family Foundation, the event is open to the public free of charge.

Renowned for its dynamic interpretations and polished, expansive colors, the Parker Quartet has rapidly distinguished itself as one of the preeminent ensembles of its generation, with inspiring performances, luminous sound, and exceptional musicianship. In demand worldwide, the Quartet has appeared at the world’s most important venues since its founding in 2002.

The Parker Quartet’s members hold graduate degrees in performance and chamber music from the New England Conservatory of Music and were part of the New England Conservatory’s prestigious Professional String Quartet Training Program from 2006 to 2008. Some of their most influential mentors include the original members of the Cleveland Quartet, Kim Kashkashian, György Kurtág, and Rainer Schmidt. The members of the Parker Quartet live in Cambridge, Mass., where they serve as the Blodgett Artists-in-Residence at Harvard University’s Department of Music.
