‘Allies for Emancipation: Lincoln and the Abolitionists’ topic of annual York College lecture on Nov. 1
York College’s annual Langston Lincoln Lecture will highlight the role of the forgotten emancipationists, abolitionists and their radical allies in Congress, in pressuring the Lincoln administration. Manisha Sinha, Draper Chair of American History at the University of Connecticut, will present the talk at 7 p.m., Nov. 1, in DeMeester Recital Hall, Evelyn and Earle Wolf Hall. A reception will precede the talk, and a book signing will follow. The event is open to the public free of charge.
Sinha’s 2016 book “The Slave’s Cause” has won numerous awards for the best book on the Civil War Era and the Frederick Douglass Book Prize for the year’s best book on slavery or abolition. It has been reviewed in The New York Review of Books, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times.
