- Marketview Arts is located in the downtown arts district on Philadelphia Street right across the street from the Strand Capitol Theater. - It's a charming, and important, and integral part of town. - It's a beautiful building, that's an arts hub, that you can see people working, and creating in their spaces. - This is like my little home. I help students integrate down here, and I work here myself in my studio. - It's certainly important for our students to have kind of a laboratory where they can practice the arts, not just the visual arts, but the theater, music, we've had all kinds of speakers come here, we have student shows. So there's always something going on here. - Gallery Hall is where we had the Wayne White Installation two years ago. We had about five thousand people come through during its six-week run. And so that really put Marketview Arts on the map. It's been a really dynamic attraction on First Fridays. - First Friday is a lot of fun. Lots of community members come in, and we usually have a gallery in the back, and you can actually walk through, and see very interesting, very out there, very unique exhibits. - It's making it a true partner for all of the artists and arts organization in our area. - The next exhibition in Gallery Hall is the My York exhibition. Artists in York, responding to the question of, "What does York mean to you?" - I think that we are lucky in York to have so many artists of all mediums that call this home. And it's really influenced by the whole community. - I think this gives our students an opportunity to be seen, and to be heard, and to participate with other people. - It's been really exciting to see how the administration at York College has embraced the downtown over the last several years. - We have so many more students that want to live in York, and work for York. It's been a great influence in our community just in the last 5, ten years. I can't wait to see what happens in the next 20.
