- I am an associate attorney for Mclaughlin Law Group, which is a small boutique firm that focuses primarily on estate planning and administration, as well as working with small businesses and budding entrepreneurs. The unique part about the firm is that we're a virtual firm. So, all the attorneys work from their own home and we go out, we meet with clients, typically in their home. Calling from Mclaughlin Law Group in regards to the. Part of my day is spent at home, drafting documents, communicating with clients, whether through email or the phone. I was a business administration major at York. I minored in finance and fell in love with business, with a strategy aspect. I love the fact that it's not your standard job where you're sitting at a desk for eight hours a day. I love the variety. I'm extraordinarily grateful to York College. I had a wonderful undergrad experience and every chance I get to tell someone about York College, I do because I wear my York College sweatshirt with pride. Because it was a little bit of a smaller school, you really got to know, not only your classmates, but the professors. So, I think that that experience of networking and building that community has really helped translate to my career. Now, we're heading to my boss's office, which she also works out of her home. We try to have a sit down that we can connect on client matters. And do we need the link certificates for all six properties? - Yeah. - I think developing leadership skills is an important part of the college experience. I was involved in a organization called Students in Free Enterprise. It's recently been rebranded to ENACTUS. I got to lead that organization for two years and we went out into the community and did projects that allowed us to apply a lot of our business classroom skills to real businesses. I think the coolest thing about my job is the chance to really get to know my clients and the opportunity to see them in their home or their workplace gives you a better picture of who they are and how you can help them. Did you have any questions after our last meeting? During my time at York College, I did four different internships and it benefited me in two different ways. The first was translating those classroom skills into the real workplace environment, but it also allowed me to explore different sides of what a business degree could do. I remain active at York College. I keep in touch with professors to this day and it remains an important part of my life.
