Group Exercise

Fitness is easier when you've got support all around you

If you need group motivation and a change of pace, group exercise is perfect. We offer both student and employee-focused classes that address your physical and mental wellness.

We suggest trying out the high-intensity, calorie-burning, ever-popular H.I.I.T and Zumba classes if you want a heavy but fun workout, or a yoga class for a calming focus. Classes are open to all fitness levels and, as always, are free to anyone with Grumbacher access. Classes are first come, first serve; you can sign up starting 30 minutes before the class at the welcome desk. We now have Rec*It FITNESS app to put our Group Exercise schedule at your fingertips, too! Just visit the IM Leagues page and enter your mobile number in the Rec*It box.

  • Class Descriptions

    Butts & Guts  is a short, high-intensity class that focuses mainly on the core and legs. Class structure is highly variable and options for all fitness levels are provided. Tuesday & Thursdays: 4:30 - 5 p.m. (GC 263)

    High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a combination of plyometrics, kickboxing, navy seal moves, push-ups, burpees and aerobic dance along with various ab core strengthening moves. As it says in the title, this is a High-Intensity class. Tuesday & Thursdays: 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. (GC 263)

    Zumba® Fitness It’s a Party!!  We take the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective? Check. Super fun? Check and check. Wednesdays: 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Fridays: 4 - 5 p.m. (GC 261)

    Zumba® in the Circuit It's a 30 minute Party with weights! This moderate Intensity Class provides a circuit workout that combines weights, cardio,and core exercises to give a total body workout in 30 minutes. It's perfect to sneak in over lunch! 12:30 - 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays (GC261)

    Yoga is a group exercise class open for all  (Faculty, staff, and students) regardless of yoga experience and current fitness level. Modifications and variations of classical asanas (poses) are taught so that all may participate. Mondays & Wednesdays 1 - 2 p.m.; Tuesdays & Thursdays: 5 - 6 p.m. (GC 261)
