Men's Club Rugby Team
Established in 1987, York College Men's Rugby Club has grown to become a very successful organization at YCP. The club competes in the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference (MARC) at a division two level. Before the club joined the MARC, we dominated the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU). During a 10 year span in the EPRU, from 1999-2009, York Men's Rugby made 6 Division II Playoff appearances, 4 Division II Championship appearances and won 2 Championships. Since joining the MARC in 2013, the club has accumulated a impressive record of 19-9. This past fall season the club made history by finishing second in the MARC tournament, which gave the first berth to the national tournament.
With rugby becoming one of the nation’s fastest growing sports, York College Men’s Rugby has become well known amongst other participating colleges/universities. York College of Pennsylvania is a Division III college and the Men's Rugby Club competes at the Division II level. The club competes in two seasons, the regular season in the fall and the tune-up season in the spring. The fall consists of six regular season matches with other Division II collegiate club teams in the MARC. In the spring season, the club focuses more on building our players understanding of the game. Instead of competing with just Division II teams in the spring, the club works to schedule as many games as possible with Division I programs to promote player development and demonstrate the club's ability.
York College Men's Rugby is eager to use the momentum from fall 2016 and improve their record even more moving forward. The club currently has around 40 players for our program and hope to have even more. All are welcome to be a part of the family and the brotherhood of York College Men’s Rugby!
While striving to be the top competitor in the division, YCP Men's Rugby encourages its members to emulate the discipline, synergy, and valor learned on the field to the classroom and community. The club places a large emphasis on classwork and also provides members the opportunity to develop valuable skills through leadership roles, fundraising and volunteering.
