York Summer Music Academy

Join us from June 26 - July 1, 2022

The York Summer Music Academy is a collaborative event, sponsored by York College of Pennsylvania and the York Symphony Orchestra. It is a high school instrumental experience designed to complement the school music experiences of students in the greater York county region.

Open to students completing grades 8-12 in 2022

Early-Bird Tuition (available before May 1): $450 - lunch included

Regular Tuition: $495 - lunch included

Lawrence Golan, Conductor of the York Symphony Orchestra, and Matthew Inkster, Director of Instrumental Studies at York College will conduct the Academy ensembles. Other instructors are members of the York Symphony Orchestra and/or the faculty of York College.

This year’s York Summer Music Academy is pandemic-aware and will employ “best-practices” to mitigate any risk to participants (exact precautions will be outlined as the date of the event draws near).

    As a participant in the York Summer Music Academy, your schedule will be filled with informative and enjoyable learning opportunities related to your area of interest. An example of a possible schedule is below.

    • 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. — Rehearsals 
    • 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. — Chorus
    • 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. — Musicianship Elective 1
    • 11:15 a.m. - 12 p.m. — Studio Classes
    • 12 - 1 p.m. — Lunch (Provided)
    • 1 -2 p.m. — Sectionals, Faculty Recital, Student Recitals
    • 2 - 2:45 p.m. — Musicianship Elective 2
    • 2:45 - 3:30 p.m. — Musicianship Elective 3
    • 3:30 - 5 p.m. — Rehearsals
