Application instructions for Graham Scholars

The Graham Scholars Program is a different kind of Honors Program. Because we are looking for innovative individuals, the application process might seem different than others you have experienced. Since we’re looking for innovators, and because we’re putting together a team of individuals who can work well together, we’d like to get to know more about you. This application will allow us to do just that. So, relax and be yourself—show us who you are.

1. Apply as soon as possible: Applications received before February 1, 2016 will be reviewed in our first round. But we will be accepting applications until all available slots are filled. So we welcome your application!
2. There are NO strict GPA or test score requirements. We’ll make decisions based upon all facets of your application materials, and will consider your past accomplishments as well as your future goals, creativity, and work ethic.
3. The Graham Scholars team will read your application materials, and we'll notify applicants who apply by February 1 of their status by the end of February. Later applicants will be informed of decisions on a rolling basis.
4. Plan on attending, if at all possible, the ACCEPTED STUDENT DAY on APRIL 16. During that event, we’ll have some group discussions with those who are chosen for the program. This will give you the opportunity to meet the other Graham Scholars—both those who started in fall 2015, and those of you will join us in 2016. If you can’t make it that day, we’ll arrange another way to speak with you.

Follow these steps

Ready to be extraordinary?
  • Answer questions

Download and then answer four short-answer questions in the Graham Scholar Application  (Word). After you’ve answered the questions, save the document to your own computer. You will be asked to submit your answers in Step Three.

  • Tell us about yourself

Here is the chance to show us who you are and what matters to you in your own way:

    You have two options:

    1)     You could submit a Word document

    2)     You can send us a URL link that will allow us to access something you have created on YouTube or other media site. Use whatever media you’d like—audio, video, images, or words.

Here are some ideas—but you can come up with your own possibilities as well:

    • write us an essay that helps us get to know you, your plans, your dreams, and—most importantly—what you’ve been doing or have done to help you achieve them.  And you could submit it as a paper document, a video, or an audio file.

    • tell us a story (in words, pictures, audio, or video) that helps us understand something important about you and how you’ve been spending your time and energy—especially in your happiest, most productive, and/or most creative moments;

    • show us something you created, in words, pictures, music, video, or however else you’d like.

    • tell (or show) us about a business you’d like to start (or one you have started) or another goal you have for your future career. Againyou can use words, pictures, audio, or video.

    • tell or show us, in whatever media you choose, about how you’ve served your community

Whatever you choose to send, it should represent you and your goals in some way. Let what you send speak for who you really are. That’s what we want!

After you’ve answered the questions in Step One, and created or decided upon something to submit in Step Two, you’re ready to complete and submit your application in Step Three.

  • Submit your content

Click below to get the application submission form, where you’ll be able to:

    • upload your documents and/or send us a URL link for what you’ve created, and
    • answer some questions. This should take you about 30 minutes.

... and that's it! Thanks for submitting your application and pursuing excellence. We believe strongly this program will enrich your college experience.
