Karen Robinson, DBA
Biography
Karen Robinson, DBA, CPA, is an Assistant Professor in Accounting with the Graham School of Business at York College of Pennsylvania. She has almost 15 years of progressive experience in academia teaching courses such as: financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting and budgetary control, advanced accounting, accounting for governmental and non-profit, and hospitality management accounting.Karen received Bachelors of Science degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Morgan State University in 1995. She also earned a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Baltimore and a Doctor of Business Administration from Argosy University. In addition, she is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Maryland and holds membership in the Baltimore Metropolitan chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA), Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and the American Accounting Association (AAA). Karen began her career as a staff accountant at King, King & Associates, PA and worked ten years in the field in various industries prior to entering academia. With recommendation from a career coach who thought that she “needed to help others in order to obtain self-fulfillment”, Karen accepted a position at her alma mater 10 years after receiving her undergraduate degrees. In her position, she serves as an educator, mentor, coach, motivator, advisor and surrogate mother.In her spare time, Karen likes to sing with the choir and praise team at her church, as well as two community choirs; and attend Caribbean carnivals, music/art festivals, and theatrical performances.
