English and Humanities

Perfect your communication skills. Think critically. Develop and capably defend your views. With Humanities as your base, you are primed for a future shaping the cultural conversation.

Employers around the world are looking for graduates who can effectively communicate and have stellar critical thinking skills. Want proof? Our sought-after graduates work at places such as the Pennsylvania Senate, the Baltimore Sun, the Walt Disney Foundation, universities, federal agencies, and more.

English and Humanities always matter because language always matters — every industry has a need for employees with outstanding writing and oral skills. We help you reach that level by giving you hands-on experience with our award-winning, student-produced literary magazines, have you listen to prominent experts in our Cultural Series events, and regularly host a nationally-recognized writer-in-residence for personal guidance. Want to travel? Our Spanish majors and others use study abroad program to enhance their linguistic skills in a different culture.
