Ecology Class at York College of Pennsylvania

Biological Sciences

Hands-on lab activities, conducting research, gathering field samples — just a typical semester for the always-active, always-involved Biological Sciences student.

We think you learn best by doing. That’s why right from the start, you’ll start getting familiar with our state-of-the-art labs as we prepare you for post-graduate work or a career using equipment you’ll already know how to use before your first day on the job. Whether your focus is on the molecular or organismal level, we have passionate, knowledgeable faculty — with terminal degrees and published research to their credit— to guide you. You will even have the opportunity to present your research at regional and national science conferences — an incredible experience.

Interested in a medical career? You’ll want to explore our Premedical Studies courses, a joint effort with Wellspan York Hospital, to help prepare you for medical school; our Allied Health majors offer even more options. Got your sights set on medical school? Check out our early assurance admissions programs at top-notch area medical schools.

Opportunities to get paid while you learn Student Employment

We have lab assistant and tutoring opportunities. Besides keeping the lab clean and orderly, lab assistants work one-on-one with students and faculty. For tutors, the college’s Center for Teaching and Learning hires upper level students with exceptional written and verbal communication skills to tutor and work alongside students wanting to improve their skills. It's also ideal for improving time management skills.
