  • Internship Resources/Internship Application

    Information for a Three-Credit Internship (New Electronic Internship Paperwork)

    *Please remember until a final confirmation email to the YCP Email is received the internship has not been approved.

    1. After approval from the site regarding the Experiential Education Opportunity please schedule an appointment to meet with your Faculty Advisor.
    2. During the meeting prepare a document to be uploaded indicating your Learning Objectives and Learning Outcomes.
    3. Complete the electronic internship paperwork
    4. Please email the site to verify that they received an email with your name and York College Internship Opportunity and ask them to please respond.
    5. Once the paperwork is received by the Associate Director of Career Development a final email will be sent to your YCP email address indicating that you have been approved for the internship.

    *Please note this is the student’s responsibility to see the internship process through until you receive the confirmation email.

    ***Remember that the completed Internship Application, including the proposed Learning Agreement and the signed Affirmation Statement, must be received by Career Development on or before the last day to add a course for the semester (Drop/Add Deadline).

    Employer Policy
    The Career Development Center invites opportunities to build relationships with external organizations in order to benefit students and graduates. Employers recruiting York College students and alumni must adhere to the following:

    1. The Career Development Center is committed to ensuring that the recruitment experience with our campus is a positive one. We strive to provide a fair process by following the NACE Principles for Professional Conduct for Career Services and Employment Professionals (, which includes maintaining a fair and equitable selection of employment opportunities and supporting our students in making informed and responsible decisions regarding their future employment.
    2. Recruiters are welcome on campus when sponsored by Career Development or another department and are required to adhere to all campus policies. York College has a no solicitation policy that applies to businesses and students selling to and/or recruiting other students. Any employer seeking to hire students for these purposes will not be permitted to post opportunities or have access to students. This also applies to email blasts, posters, fliers and other efforts to reach York College students and faculty. In addition, recruiters may not enter classrooms to distribute materials or make presentations without prior approval from the professor of the class they wish to enter.
    3. We strive to accommodate employers to the best of our ability; however, Career Development does not guarantee room availability, audience attendance or classroom visitation opportunities.
    4. The Career Development Center reserves the right to edit, delete, or refuse any job, internship, or volunteer posting. In addition, York College Career Development does not publish job/internship opportunities that require an initial monetary investment, including application fees. Positions that require participants to raise their own financial support must clearly specify this within the job description.

    Student/Alumni Policy
    The Career Development Center reviews opportunities prior to posting them to students and alumni.

    However, in its provision of services to students, alumni, and off-campus recruiters, the Career Development Center makes no representations or guarantee regarding the opportunities listed on its website, bulletin boards, print materials, and other resources, and it is not responsible for the wages, safety, working conditions, or other aspects of off-campus positions or programs. It is the responsibility of students and alumni to take the necessary precautions when communicating with employers as well as interviewing for and accepting part-time/full-time employment, internships, volunteer activities, or placement in a graduate school program.

    Spartan Career Path Policy
    By utilizing Spartan Career Path, York College’s online job search program (NACELink), students, alumni, and others are agreeing to allow their personal and professional information (e.g. name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, degree, etc.) to be accessed by the York College Career Development Center and approved employers seeking candidates for full-time/part-time positions and co-ops/internships. Please review the privacy policy under your profile and make sure you understand your selections and the impact of your privacy settings.

    Student Privacy Policy
    FERPA is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. Under this law, permission for recruiters or any other outside persons or agencies to release personal information to any other person or agency outside of York College requires a written release from the student.
