YCP has five official academic year break periods: fall break, Thanksgiving break, the break between the fall and spring semester, winter break, and spring break. During these break periods, all residence hall buildings close and all residents are required to leave for the entire period. Personal belongings may be left in the room during the break periods.
Housing Break Schedule 2019-2020
Halls open on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 9 a.m. New and transfer students may check-in at the Residence Life Office from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., located in the Student Union, Room 307.
Halls close on Friday, February 28, 2020, by 8 p.m. All students must vacate.
Halls re-open on Sunday, March 8, 2020, after 12 p.m.

Halls close on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, by 10 p.m. All students must vacate.
Halls re-open on Monday, April 13, 2020, after 12 p.m.

Residents must vacate their campus residence within 24 hours after their last final examination. Personal belongings must be removed from the room. Only students directly involved in Commencement may stay until 5 p.m. on the day of Commencement.

Students with finals after 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2020, the last day of the exam period, must check out by 9 a.m. the following morning. Those students will need to submit the online break request form for verification. Finals Week: May 9-14, 2020; Commencement: May 16, 2020.
*Stay over requests: Anyone requesting permission to stay beyond the noted dates and times must submit an online break request form. Reminder notices will be posted under the MyYCP Campus Announcements before each break and may be found on the Residence Life website. Late break request forms may not be accepted. Permission is not guaranteed. Students may be assessed a fee billed directly to their student account if approved to stay within campus residence during scheduled breaks. Students found on-campus who had not been approved to stay will be required to leave immediately and may face disciplinary sanctions and fines.
