Spring on the York College campus

Meet Nezam Al-Nsair, Ph.D.

"The need for talented and skilled nurses continues to escalate locally and nationally. I look forward to working with faculty and students as we continue to meet the nursing and healthcare needs of both our local community and beyond."
Dean Nezam Al-Nsair

What do you hope to accomplish in your new role as the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions?

I sensed a lot of positive energy and excitement among faculty in my first few weeks at York College. There are a lot of very good and wonderful things going on around campus. My hope is to be a positive changing agent who enhances and grows existing areas of strength in the school.

I want to know the faculty. I want to know what their interests and strengths are, what they think we can do better, what are some of their challenges and needs, what they think is working well, and how we can work together to explore new ideas and new ways of doing things to strengthen our school.

I want to meet our students and learn about their needs and challenges to be able to work with faculty within the school and support units across campus to make their experience at YCP a pleasant and impactful one.

In your experience, how best can students make an impact in the community and work with local healthcare?

I want to work with faculty and staff to create a welcoming environment for students where they feel they can reach their potential and where students feel excited about being engaged with the community. I believe that creating an engaging learning community will provide students with the necessary tools to achieve their own goals and be positive social agents.

Where would you like to see the School in the next 5-10 years?

I am very excited to be here and I believe that there are great opportunities to achieve over the next 5-10 years. I would like to see the School of Nursing and Health Professions grow in enrollment with expanded current programs and additional new majors. I would like to add new health profession majors to the School that meet the increasing demand for local and national healthcare professionals.
