Spring on the York College campus

It's Worth a Shot

Protecting each other. Strengthening our community.

The York College community is something special. If you’re part of the Spartan family, you already know how much we value hands-on learning, collaboration, and ambition. After a challenging 2020-21 academic year, we can’t wait to see everyone back on campus and enjoying the York College experience for 2021-22. With that in mind, we’re asking for your help.

Submit proof of vaccination — and win prizes!

Here on campus, a higher vaccination rate means a safer community and greater opportunity to return to normal pre-pandemic operations. While we are not requiring students and employees to get vaccinated, we are strongly encouraging it. As an incentive for students who support our community’s health and wellbeing, those who submit proof of vaccination will be rewarded with entry into weekly prize drawings. And we think you’ll like these prizes!

Here are just a few of the items that will be raffled off during the Fall 2021 semester:

  • Reserved parking space of your choice (for the entire semester!)
  • Laptop computer
  • $500 bookstore voucher
  • Free Starbucks for a week
  • Dinner for 2-4 in Downtown York (you pick the restaurant)
  • Gas station gift card
  • “Dorm Makeover” (new bedding, chair, and decor)
  • ...and MUCH more!

  • Vaccination Facts

    Vaccination Facts

There’s a lot of information — and misinformation — circulating about COVID-19 and the vaccination, so it’s important to know the facts. As you research the vaccine to make an informed decision, be sure to check for sources that have credible authors/publishers listed, along with recent publication dates and evidence backed up with citations.

Here’s what we know about the COVID-19 vaccination, based on the best and most up-to-date science from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health:

    • COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective.

    • The available vaccines met rigorous FDA standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality needed to support emergency use authorization (EUA). As of August 23, 2021, the Pfizer vaccine is fully approved by the FDA for individuals over the age of 16.

    • Vaccines are highly effective at preventing serious disease and death caused by coronavirus infection.

    • Vaccination reduces the risk of people spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.
