York College names first Arthur J. Glatfelter Institute of Public Policy Fellow

Vinny Cannizzaro

York College has named Vinny Cannizzaro as its first fellow at The Arthur J. Glatfelter Institute for Public Policy. The College created the Institute with funding from The Arthur J. and Lee R. Glatfelter Foundation to engage students in the policymaking process while providing bipartisan research to legislators at the city, county, and state levels of government. Bringing together the intellectual capital of an institution of higher education with the practical experience of local legislators, policy experts, and practitioners, the Glatfelter Institute will become a focal point for advancing the knowledge base of this community, and for educating tomorrow’s policy experts and political leaders. It is housed in the Center for Community Engagement in downtown York.

Cannizzaro is a public policy professional with extensive experience in quantitative and data analysis, public policy analysis and development, community participation and relations, and policy communications. He held a number of positions with nonprofit organizations, state agencies, and institutions of higher education.

Cannizzaro received a Master of Public Policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he focused on social inequalities and social policy. He will teach two courses in the Department of History and Political Science in which students will be invited to create their own policy proposals based on topics they feel most passionate about.

Those who want to get involved in the Institute or would like to discuss issues impacting the community and research opportunities may contact Cannizzaro at publicpolicy@ycp.edu.
