(Re)Making York's History
This series of workshops invites York’s citizens to construct new stories about the past. Drawing upon artifacts gathered from their homes, neighborhoods, and associations, participants will build historical narratives from often-hidden personal collections of photos, art, news clippings, objects, etc. that help us to tell those stories. This “artifacts roadshow” will be held at various locations throughout York, helping citizens take pride in their past and make their stories public. Volunteers with experience in historical interpretation and public history from York College, the History Center, the Goodridge Freedom Center, and York’s citizenry to help those who attend to value and build historical narratives from that which they bring. We will hold the events within neighborhood centers, schools, churches, and other locations.
