Taring Padi:
Solidaritas tanpa Batas/ Solidarity without Boundaries

November 3–December 15, 2021
Marketview Arts, Gallery Hall (Downtown)
Cora Miller Gallery (Campus)

Taring Padi is an art collective in Yogyakarta, Indonesia that formed amidst the upheaval surrounding the fall of the repressive Suharto regime. Their work demonstrates the democracy of printmaking and collaboration, denouncing corruption, environmental exploitation, inequality and neo-imperialism while advocating for the poor and dispossessed. Three members of the collective, Ucup Baik, Bayu WD, and Fitri DK, will spend a month in York creating new work, offering demonstrations and workshops, engaging with students, and installing exhibitions both on campus and at Marketview Arts. The residency will run from mid-October to mid-November, 2021.
