Center for Community Engagement building in downtown York

York College returns to Downtown York

Honoring the past. Engaging the present. Imagining a future.

Beyond York College's traditional campus, the Center for Community Engagement has established two Downtown York locations for students looking to gain hands-on experience in the community. Each of our downtown venues offers its own unique environment for students and community members to come together in making York a vibrant place to live, work, and play. From arts and culture to hospitality management, political science, and human services, students from across academic programs will find somewhere to call home in Downtown York.

Center for Community Engagement A place to convene

Built in 1839, the historic Philip Small House was home to the Lafayette Club for more than a century. Once a members-only club for local businessmen, many important decisions and deals were made within the walls of 59 East Market Street throughout history. Made possible by a generous donation from Louis J. Appell Jr, York College has once again opened the doors of this historic landmark. The home for the Center for Community Engagement's offices, this downtown venue will be a place for students and faculty to come together with community leaders from across York County to continue the tradition of collaborating for the greater good of York's future.

Marketview Arts Culture. Creativity. Community.

Located in the heart of Downtown York's Market District, Marketview Arts has become a hub of creative expression for community members and students alike. With individual studio spaces and the region's most comprehensive and functional letterpress studio, York College Fine Art & Graphic Design students have called Marketview Arts home since 2012.
