Center for Community Engagement building in downtown York

Connecting Our College
and Our Community

Honoring the past. Engaging the present.
Imagining a future.

Beyond the traditional campus of York College of Pennsylvania, the Center for Community Engagement has established two Downtown York locations for students seeking hands-on experience in the community. Each of our downtown venues offers a unique environment for students and community members to come together in making York a vibrant place to live, work, and play. Students across many academic disciplines, including arts and culture, hospitality management, political science, human services, and more, will find a place to call home in Downtown York.

Take a look at our connections with historic Downtown York. (video courtesy of YRK) Download a transcript of this video.

A place to conveneCenter for Community Engagement

Built in 1839, the historic Philip Small House was home to the Lafayette Club for more than a century. Once a club for local businessmen, many important decisions and deals were made within the walls of 59 East Market Street throughout history. Made possible by a generous donation from Louis J. Appell Jr., York College has once again opened the doors of this historic landmark. The home of the Center for Community Engagement offices, this downtown venue is a place for students and faculty to come together with community leaders from across York County to continue the tradition of collaborating for the greater good of York's future.

Culture. Creativity. Community.Marketview Arts

Located in the heart of Downtown York's Market District, Marketview Arts has become a hub of creative expression for community members and students alike. With individual studio spaces, Marketview Arts has been a valuable resource for York College Fine Art students since 2012.
