My name is Andrew Rhodes '20, and I am a senior Finance and Economics major at YCP. This is my second year on Road Crew and I think that the trip has already started off on a great note! This week, the YCP Road Crew had the pleasure of visiting a 1991 alumnus, Richard Mamone, on Wall Street. While on Wall Street, we had the opportunity to visit a top-tier investment bank that does business on a global scale. Richard and his colleague spoke to us about their journey after college and about their role at the investment bank.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the day was when we had the opportunity to go to the trading floor of the investment bank, where millions of dollars of transactions occur every day. The trading floor was an eye-opening experience, especially for a finance and economics major, like me. The trading floor of the investment bank was a place I could see myself in the future and having the opportunity to be on the floor is truly a very rare experience that the average person would not have the opportunity to experience.
Speaking with Richard and his colleague at the investment bank provided me with great insight into my desired field of work. The excitement of the trading floor and the experiences shared by Richard made me so much more confident in my field of study and provided other business students that were in attendance with a rare, valuable perspective on the world of finance.
